Teen Programs
Programs are held at the Main branch of the Wayne Public Library & Wayne residents get preference for sign-up availability. Registration can be done online by visiting the Event Calendar above, beginning at the designated time on the registration date.

NOTE: If you are unable to attend a program, please kindly call the library in advance. This will allow others on the waiting list to attend the program, as well as prevent waste of materials.

Teen Creates! Make a Paracord Bracelet/Wrist Band

Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Come and learn how to make this stylish wrist band similar to the one in the 2015 Mad Max Movie. Paracord Bracelets are known for optimum utility and ruggedness, plus they have a ton of uses. Open to Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade.

Third Annual N.J. Makers Day! Let's Create a Water Slide

Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 3:00—4:00 PM

Celebrate NJ Maker's Day at the WPL. Engineer and create your own water slide design that doesn't leak and can safely slide down "people." A variety of materials will be used. We will learn about what materials work best and hold their shape when wet, draw a plan, build models and put them to the test.

Open to Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade. Online registration begins Wednesday, March 8th at 7:00 AM.

**Popcorn will be served. Bring your own drinks.** When Jacob discovers clues to a mystery that stretches across time, he finds Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Knitting 101

Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 3:30—5:00 PM

Young Adults in grades 5—12, are you interested in learning how to knit? Come join us as we relax and learn the basics together. Feel free to bring in your own knitting needles and yarn. Supplies are available thanks to generous donations. Please note: some knitting needles have pointy tips so use with care.

WPL YA Chess Club

Thursday April 6, 2017 from 6:00 -7:30 PM

Come and develop your strategic skills and challenge a new opponent. Young Adults in grades 5—12 are welcome to play chess against each other or with our seasoned players.

Let’s celebrate spring! Come join Regina Kiebel, the craft instructor to learn how to make a lovely flower centerpiece for any occasion. Open to Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade.

Create Poetry for Teens

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 (No school in Wayne) from 3:15—4:00 PM

In honor of National Poetry Month, poet and English professor Scott Wordsman will lead a writing workshop, guiding students through the depths of modern poetry, reading poems by today's most exciting voices. Students will be introduced to imagery, word choice, and styles of rhyming in order to craft a poem of their own! Open to Wayne Y.A.s in grades 5th – 8th.

Communiteens Meet!

Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM (No School in Wayne)

Fun, friends, and food! We will participate in some fun ice breaker games and collaborate with our peers on a creative project. Open to Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade.

Teen Snack Delights!

Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2:15—3:15 PM (No School)

Natalie Nachef, the Retail Dietitian from ShopRite of Wayne will teach us how to make a delightful snacks. This program is for Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade. *Please be aware this may not be an allergy-friendly program.

Robotics 101

Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 6:00—7:00 PMDuring this introductory lesson students will build their robots. Students will also discover that robots have to be programmed and a robot does not work as soon as it is built. This program is for Young Adults in 5th through 12th grade.
