Fall Story Times 2018

Register online from the Events Calendar by clicking on the date of the program and title of the event.
Fall  Story Time Sessions will begin the week of September 24th, 2018 and continue through the week of November 12th, 2018. 

**NOTE: There will be No Tot Time on Monday, October 8th due to Columbus Day and No Picture Book Story Time and No Tot-Time on Tuesday, November 6th due to Election Day.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:
  • Online registration begins on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. Register online by clicking our Events Calendar on the upper left side of the page and then select the date and title of the program.
  • Sessions are open to Wayne residents only with a valid WPL card.
  • Class size is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Space is limited so children may only register for one (1) storytime session.
  • Please try to be on time.
  • Sessions will only be held if three or more children are in attendance.
  • If you cannot attend weekly Story Times, please inform the Children's Department staff, so that others on the Waiting List may attend.

Tutoring services by the Wayne Valley High School National Honors Society will take place in the Children's Department of the Main Library for the middle school and high school students who attend Wayne schools. Students may attend one or both days. Sessions will not be held when there is no school in Wayne. You must email:wvalleynhs@gmail.com for more information. 


PAWS for Reading with Therapy Dogs at the Preakness Branch Library

2018 Dates:  Oct. 1 - Nov. 12 - Dec. 3.

Children ages 5 through 10 read to a therapy dog for 10 minute sessions. Session starts at 3:30 p.m.

Read to a Dog

Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4:00—5:00 PM

Wayne children ages 5 through 10 will be able to choose one of the following NEW books to read during their reserved time reading to a therapy dog. Lad: A Dog—Lad: The Hero Dog NEW fully illustrated Easy Reader with a list of Dolch sight words after the story. Whose Collie? - NEW fully illustrated story abridged from the original for ages 8 (grade 3) & up.

Knit & Eat

Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 4:00—5:00 PM

Learn the basic skills to create fun knitted projects! Knitting Club is open to beginners or those who want to improve their skills. NOTE: Please bring your own kids Knitting Needles: 7”-Size 10/6mm or anything close to this would be preferred for little hands. Open to Wayne kids in grades 2nd — 4th.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Celebration

Welcome back to Hogwarts! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was published in the U.K. twenty years ago! Please join us for a celebration that includes edible magic wands, trivia and a raffle!

Engineering for Kids Hungry Alligator Robots

What is a robot? This program will introduce the students to the concept of what robotics is and a chance to build and program their first robot.

Not sure what to pack in your lunch bag? Miss Natalie, ShopRite dietician, will teach children how to make a fun, easy and nutritious snack that they can make themselves!

An NYPD police dog and his FBI agent partner are tasked with tracking an exotic animal smuggler by way of a dog show in Las Vegas. Movie is rated PG and runs for 90 minutes.
