Teen Volunteers

Library Community Service
A healthy library depends on volunteers – people like you who are willing to share their skills because they care about their community. Volunteering your time and talents is a powerful way to influence the quality of services at the Wayne Public Library. There are volunteer opportunities for teens in the library during July & August; maybe you could help the library out! Click here for more information on volunteering.

Volunteering - In the Library
Who?
Our volunteers should:
  • want to volunteer (not because their parents are making them do it)!
  • be self-motivated and reliable
  • must be 16 years of age, the only exception are the students who are members of CommuniTeens. All volunteers need to fill out the application form below and have it approved prior to starting their volunteer duties.
What?
We depend on teen volunteers to help:
  • clean books
  • straighten shelves
  • shelve books
  • type up book lists and bibliographies
  • help prepare crafts and materials for children's programs.
When?
  • Help us for two hours each week...in the daytime during the months of July and August.
Why?
Volunteering helps you help others, and...
  • teaches you job skills and values
  • helps you complete community service hours as required by your school or other organization
  • is a great thing to add to your college, scholarship, or job applications
  • makes you feel good
  • places you in a great spot for doing homework or reading
  • Applicants are limited.
