Teen Programs
Programs are held at the Main branch of the Wayne Public Library & Wayne residents get preference for sign-up availability. Registration can be done online by visiting the Event Calendar above, beginning at the designated time on the registration date.

NOTE: If you are unable to attend a program, please kindly call the library in advance. This will allow others on the waiting list to attend the program, as well as prevent waste of materials.

2019 Young Adult Summer Reading Club

Registration begins on June 18 @ 9AM

Don’t miss out on the chance to win some great prizes! Read as little or as much as you want! The Children’s Reference Desk has all the details on how to register! In-person registration begins Tuesday, June 18th at 9:00 AM.

You must be entering grades 6—12 and be a WAYNE RESIDENT to register.



CommuniTeens Meet: Design a UFO!

Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5:30—6:30 PM

Fun, friends and food! Your unique UFO designs will be displayed in the Children’s Department this summer to go with the summer reading theme “A Universe of Stories.” Teens can also earn a community service hour. Open to Young Adults in 5th — 12th grade.

Online registration starts Thursday, June 6th at 7:00 AM.



PEARL Observatory: Fossil Dig

Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 5:15—6:00 PM

Come and be a Paleontologist. Clean & screen and dig fossils that are up to 20 million years old. Lucky sifters will get to keep found treasures!

Juggling Workshop

Monday, July 1, 2019 from 11:30—12:15 PM

Learn something fun this summer! Joe will teach us the art of juggling. Come join us as we learn the skill of catching continuously tossed objects in the air.

WPL Y.A Chessclub

Come and develop your strategic skills and challenge a new opponent. Wayne Y.A.s entering grades 5th—12th are welcomed to play chess against our chess mentor Mr. J or each other.

ideaLabs STEAM Workshops

Saturday, July 6th, July 13th, July 20th & July 27th

11:15 AM—12:15 PM

The reduced rate fee is $10 per child.  The Wayne Free Public Library Foundation is generously paying the other $10 per child. 

This is a great opportunity to get your child involved in a STEAM Workshop! Children must be entering grades 4th—6th. Wayne residents only.

To register: You MUST attend the Idea Lab STEAM Workshop on Saturday, June 22nd from 11am — 1pm.  Register online beginning Monday, June 24th at 7:00 AM.

Artistic Braids at the Library!

Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 12:00—1:15 PM

Open to Young Adults ages 9—13. Don't get tangled!  Join is for a hands-on hair braiding tutorial led by stylist Michele Arnold. Please come with freshly brushed, detangled hair. Please bring a hair brush (sanitized combs will be provided for braiding).

Space Quest Treasure Hunt

Have a Grand Adventure as you reveal hidden clues, solve baffling riddles, unlock buried secrets, follow mysterious trails, and overcome challenging obstacles to recover a priceless alien treasure! Cadets will build observation, puzzle solving, and research skills as they search for clues that lead to the lost treasure.

Teen Edible Arts: Mossaic Space Ships

Miss Marianne from Edible Arts presents “Blast Off” art project that is out of this world and fun to eat! *Allergy note: although the items we will be using do not contain nuts, some of the products may be processed in a facility that also process nuts.

Wayne JDroids: Robotics Institute

Wayne young adults entering grades 6th through 12th are welcome to join us as we introduce to you the world of robotics with STEM/JDroids/FTC/Worlds. You will see a demonstration of our State Championship robot and participate in an innovation design challenge.

Yoga Magic

Debi, our yoga instructor, will teach the benefits of yoga. Learn about your own energy and become aware of an ancient art that can help your focus. Please bring a large towel or mat.

Morris Museum presents Musical Instruments from Around the World

Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 12:00—12:45 PM

Sometimes a cappella is not enough—so what can we use to make music besides our voices? Participants will experience a multi-sensory exploration of music by seeing, hearing and touching instruments as diverse as the Brazilian cuica, Polynesian pu’ili sticks, American Indian flute, and a German zither, and learn a bit about the culture that created each instrument.
