Winter Spring Story Times 2020

Register online from the Events Calendar by clicking on the date of the program and title of the event.
Story Time Sessions begin the week of February 3, 2020 and continue through the week of April 20, 2020. There will be NO Story Times on Monday, February 17th (President’s Day) and the week of April 6th (Spring Recess). Online registration begins Tuesday, January 21st at 7:00 AM.*. Visit waynepubliclibrary.org to register. Programs are open to Wayne residents only with a valid Wayne Library card. Space is limited, so be sure to register early! Child can only be registered for 1 session. There will be NO Story Times on Monday, September 30th (Rosh Hashanah), Monday, October 14th (Columbus Day) and Tuesday, November 5th (Election Day).

  • Sessions are open to Wayne residents only with a valid WPL card.
  • Class size is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Space is limited so children may only register for one (1) storytime session.
  • Please try to be on time.
  • Sessions will only be held if three or more children are in attendance.
  • If you cannot attend weekly Story Times, please inform the Children's Department staff, so that others on the Waiting List may attend.

Tutoring services by the Wayne Valley High School National Honors Society will take place in the Children's Department of the Main Library for the middle school and high school students who attend Wayne schools. Students may attend one or both days. Sessions will not be held when there is no school in Wayne. You must email:wvalleynhs@gmail.com for more information. 
 


Idea Lab STEAM Workshops

Must sign up for all 4 classes for $80

Crazy Science (for ages 5—7)
Saturday: January 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 1:00—2:00 PM


Join Idea Lab for some amazing hands-on science experiments!


JR Robotics (for ages 5—7)
Saturday: January 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 2:15 – 3:15 PM


Want to build your own robot? In this class you will be able to assemble your very own play robot! Come and make a new best friend in this robot filled class. We will learn how Robots work and how sensors allow robots to maneuver and decide which actions to take based on sensor inputs.


Robotics (for ages 8—10)
Saturday: January 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 3:30 – 4:30 PM

Students will construct a series of smart bots, along with grippers for some heavy-duty lifting. Students will also build a self-balancing robot that can shoot balls and make moves.

Read to a Dog

Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4:00—5:00 PM

Wayne children ages 5 through 10 will build confidence and improve reading skills when the therapy dog they read to listens to their stories. Each child will read from his or her own book for about 10—15 minutes.

Everyone’s favorite toys are back! Get out of the cold and come to the library to watch Toy Story 4. Movie is rated G with a runtime of 1 hour, 40 minutes.

Paint 3D Workshop

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 4:00—5:00 PM

A 1 hour creative workshop where kids can draw and design things utilizing a Surface Pro and Surface Pen and can be themed to whatever you prefer. Open to Wayne children ages 5 through 7.

Make SnowFlakes with Mathnasium

Kids can learn how to make beautiful paper snowflakes at the library. Open to Wayne children in kindergarten — 4th grade.

Join us for an *Indoor* Family Picnic & Movie Event. We will be watching Pokemon Detective Pikachu. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to sit on. Movie is rated PG and runtime 105 minutes.

Dog Days of Winter Craft with Miss Melissa

Escape the cold winter weather and come to the library to make an adorable dog craft. Children will listen to a story and create a one-of-a-kind craft to take home.

Max the Terrier is coping with some major life changes. His owner is now married and has a toddler, Liam. Max is so worried about protecting the boy that he develops a nervous tic.
